Mirror Pond on Mount Taibo in Shanxi

Saturday 12 June 2010

The water and my mind have both settled down
Into perfect stillness.
Sun and moon shine bright in it.
At night I see in the surface
The enormous face of my old familiar moon.
I don't think you've ever met the source of this reflection.
All shrillness fades into the sound of silence.
But now and then a puff of mist floats across the mirror.
It confuses me a little
But not enough to make me forget to forget my cares.

  1. "...not enough to make me forget to forget my cares..."

Yup, still puffs of mist, but that's all they are...

  5. Andi - I am feeling better now, thank you darling. I love that line too :)

    Mike - you're welcome! :)

Kel - Mm, good point there :) But still, there's something good and deep too, about a moonless night. I think Maggie has rubbed off on me :)

One more week, yes. There are some solstice celebrations going on at Fed Square this weekend I am looking forward to partaking of (http://www.fedsquare.com/index.cfm?pageID=471) Come on down, if you're in the area :)

  6. As you are fading into winter, we are blossoming into summer. I hope you'll share whatever way you celebrate this solstice... I've been challenged to mark it in some significant way.

I've left you a bit of "love" over on my blog... you are under no obligation from me to do anything except receive it in the manner in which it was intended!

  7. Lucy - good to see you and glad you like it.

Kimber - ooh, thanks for the prompt. I have got a few ideas about winter to write about - going to some solstice celebrations here in Melbourne, so I hope to write about that. SO much harder to make time to blog these days *sigh*. Why is it so hard to carve out time to do all the best stuff??

Thanks for the blog love :)
