The kingdom of heaven is within you

Thursday 6 March 2008

This has been floating in and out of my consciousness all week. The kingdom of heaven is within you.

What does that mean to you? It means a whole lot of things to me. The visual I thought of at lunch today, while reading stuff I have to do for tomorrow's class, I had a visual of a field of reality that stretches outwards into the world and beyond, in ever widening ripples ... but the same level of exploration can also happen within, inverted, in ever widening ripples. It means that I don't have to go searching for myself out there, because the answers are to be found in here.

No handwriting on the wall
just the voice that's in us all.

  1. We share brain frequency.
I was talking with someone about Rudolf Steiner and his view of the Spirit being contained in all things.
    (that's my paraphrase)

It's dizzying because on the one hand it seems our "job" is to respond to the Spirit, but what is it in us that makes us respond or not?

I wonder if it's about listening to our conscience and then I wonder what the difference between the conscience and the spirit are?

    I'm no help.

Did you win your bid on Ghandi?

  2. (Romans 2:14-15 speaks to the conscience issue....I must have erased it while editing my comment.)

  3. The power, the wisdom, the goodness of God lives within me, exists in me in ways I cannot quite appreciate let alone tap into. We are just too frightened of the divinity offered us.
That's what it means to me.

  4. Jennifer - so that's why I feel depleted in my brain, 'cause you're hogging the frequency. Maybe we can work out a good timeshare arrangement so that I get more brain time in the mornings, when I need it - which is your evening. Is that alrght?

Yes, I did win my bid on Ghandi :) Yay! It should be here by the end of next week.

Barbara - we are frightened of it, aren't we? We're frightened of our possibilities because it means action.

  5. Very cool about the video!

I'm going to sleep now, bask in your brain power. :) (Not that I draw much from the frequency.)

  6. It's frightening because we have to give up the self-image and the idols we so cling to for alleged security. That's my take on it, anyway.

  7. It says that the dwelling place of God (aka Heaven) is within (united with the soul of) each person. That means that God understands and accepts how each of us sees God. He inhabits us. It's another way of saying that the truth is partly subjective and partly objective. All things are possible with God, and love believes ALL things. God knows that each person has separate views of reality. This is as unlimited as our own imaginations, and as all encompassing and accepting of all souls as God can be. It can be difficult to understand and accept how the truth can be different for each person, but it is. It helps us to be more accepting of others to realize this.

  8. Hello Anonymous. I'm with you all the way on this one :)

I remember when I was much more of a fundamentalist than I am now, closer to the beginning of my journey, and I hated postmodernism because I believed it would be the downfall of us all. Now, I think it has been the cracking open of us all to see a greater reality. And while I think postmodernism tends to dismiss the idea of an ultimate reality, it still taught us a lot about ultimate reality. There's a paradox! :)
