A world full of Gandhis

Sunday 16 March 2008

Sometimes I wonder if the issue isn't so much that there was only one Gandhi (although there was, that man in that time and place, and we are all totally unique, even while we're all quite the same).

Sometimes I think that the point is that we are all potentially Gandhi. And that's just a tiny bit more terrifying.

Oh, sure, I mean, we wouldn't all be doing things like leading entire countries to independence. But we would be putting ourselves on the line as much. Leaving our lives behind as much. Walking out in the future and what God calls to.

Because maybe we all have the potential.

'Cause maybe the potential doesn't lie within us so much as it lies in being envisioned and inspired by the One.

But that's all a bit scary so I'm going to bed now.

  1. i was just thinking of maslow's self-actualization: a beautified sue and a beautified rob, etc. that is what i presently envision.

  2. That sounds amazing to me, Rob :) I can't begin to imagine a beautified Rob. That just seems beyond comprehension.

    Me? I'm almost there, myself.

    Hehe (coughs on own sarcasm)

  5. You know I’ve been ‘distracted’ by tennis and am ‘way far behind’ on blog visits (heck I had over 900 unread posts in Google Reader this morning and have winnowed that to 513 as I type this 15 of which are yours my prolific friend) … but I had to stop here briefly … because your thought ‘mirrors’ my Sacred Life Sunday post this morning …(or vice versa since yours was posted first even though I’ve only just found it now). This thought is both terrifying and wonderful … ‘potential inspired by the One’ … Amen! I hope you slept well ;--)
Happy Easter to you and yours!
    Hugs and blessings,
