Laughing Castanets

The kookaburra flies onto the decking.  He's been digging in the dirt for worms.

He shakes his head and the top and bottom of his beak hit together.  It sounds like a castanet.

  1. Did he dance a fandango, turning cartwheels on the floor? Ole! Squawk!

  2. I like this too. I am always interested in the local flora & fauna, and yours are obviously very different from what I have ever known.  I had No Idea they could do that beak trick.

  3. No, he brought his little mini piano over and sang Peter Allen songs to me, accompanied by his beak.  Very good :)

  4. Hi John.  Yeah, Aussie flora and fauna is pretty unique.  Although I guess we could say that about anywhere, really.  I imagine there are tons of places throughout the world where we would be dazzled by the amazing animals and plants.  There's something comforting about that, somehow :)
